This 45 ton, 45 ft humpback Mother whale swam toward to me from 25 feet away, it decided to come say HELLO.
It was right in front of me. My guide grabed me and started pulling me away when I was taking this shot. When I looked into the whales eye, I could see she was watching me and she knew what I was doing. I have to get uniquely close to the whales in order to get these shots. These types of photos are rare and risky because normally, whales won’t stay around people this long. This photo invites us to appreciate the beauty and grace of Tahitian Mother Humpback Whale and Baby and encourages us to preserve their fragile oceanic habitat.
